FRANKLIN — Mary E. Greene of Harrison Street, departed this life on March 23, 2017.

She was born in Southampton County on April 5, 1944, to Lloyd Vaughan and Rebie Greene Gatling. Mary was lovingly reared and cared for by her grandmother and step-grandfather, Mary and Henry Barnes.
She attended the Franklin City Public Schools.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and brother, Ernest Gatling Jr.
She is survived by one daughter, Tanya Davis (Antonio); three sisters, Gloria Gatling, Yvette Gatling and Yvonne Gatling; one grandchild, Taylor Davis; one niece, two great-nieces; one great-nephew, and many other relatives.
The homegoing service will be on Friday, March 31, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Wm. M. Johnson & Sons Funeral Home Inc., 224 S. Main St., with the Rev. James Barnes delivering the message of comfort. The committal and benediction will be in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery, Como, North Carolina.
