Southampton Academy Lady Raiders Varsity defeats Kenston Forest despite allowing 4-run inning

Even though Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity gave up four runs in the first inning, it still defeated Kenston Forest 10-7 on Tuesday, March 21. Kenston Forest’s big inning was driven by a single by Lydia Wrenn and a home run by Josie Epperson.
Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity collected nine hits and Kenston Forest had 11 in the high-scoring affair
Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity took an early lead in the first inning.
In the bottom of the first inning, Kenston Forest tied things up at one. Kenston Forest scored one run when Lydia Wrenn singled with two outs in the first inning.
Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity took the lead for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Megan Purvis singled off of Savannah Gunn, driving in two runs.
Kellie Ferguson earned the win for Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity. She went six innings, allowing three runs, nine hits, striking out one, and walking one.
Megan Vincent started the game for Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity. She threw one inning, giving up four runs, two hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Megan had to be pulled from the game after the 1st inning due to pain she was experiencing in her back.
Home runs for Kenston Forest came when Mackenzie Coley homered in the fifth inning and Josie Epperson homered in the first and fifth innings.
Allison Matthews and Mallory Sharp each collected multiple hits for Southampton Academy Raiders Varsity. Sharp and Matthews all had two hits (each had a single and a double) to leadSouthampton Academy Raiders Varsity.
Epperson, Gunn and Coley each collected multiple hits for Kenston Forest. Epperson led Kenston Forest with four runs batted in. She went 4-for-4 on the day.
