FRANKLIN — Steve Michael Jones, 63, passed away on April 19, 2017, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.

Steve was a native of Bedford and reared in Gretna. He was a son of the late George A. and Doris Blankenship Jones.
Steve was a retired Master Trooper with 30 years of service with the Virginia State Police, and was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 151 AF&AM and the Franklin Shrine Club.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Cindy Jones; one daughter, Christine Doggett of Ridgway, Illinois; two sons, Derrick Jones of Waldorf, Maryland, and Brandon Jones of Franklin; one brother, George A. Jones Jr. and his wife, Kaye, of Chatham; five grandchildren, Caleb Jones, Jessica Doggett, Jeremy Doggett, Graci Jo Doggett and Ashlyn Brown; a dear friend, 1st Sgt. Greg Jackson; and Steve’s pets, Sassy and Patch.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, in Courtland Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Carpenter officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
