CARRSVILLE
A former Isle of Wight County supervisor who had previously announced his intention to again seek a place on the board has had a change of heart and mind.

Philip Bradshaw announced on Tuesday afternoon that he won’t pursue the seat which would be vacated by Carrsville district’s Rex Alphin at year’s end.

“After long consideration, prayer and talking with God and prioritizing, I decided to step away,” said Bradshaw. “My heart and soul are just not in it at this time.”

Personal and family needs are to be his priority, such as being present in the lives of two of his grandsons who live in Northern Virginia. He’s also quite active with his church, Boy Scouts and the Ruritans.

Bradshaw, who served on the board from 1994 to 2010, left to become the school’s new chief financial officer for a few years. His own father, Joel C. Bradshaw, had been a supervisor for 18 years.

“I’m pretty much at peace with myself,” Bradshaw said about his decision.
