Soucek scholarship recipients announced

FRANKLIN
Franklin High School seniors Teresa Chamblee and Lauren Causey are this year’s recipients of FHS’s Soucek Memorial English Scholarships. Chamblee received the English Achievement Award of $1,000 and Causey received the English Excellence Award, also $1,000.
The scholarships are named for former FHS English Teacher Linda P. Soucek, and are awarded to students who best exemplify not only academic achievement and presentation skills — particularly in English — but also set an example for others as to disciplined perseverance in reaching personal goals, always with a positive, constructive attitude that inspires.
Those were the attributes of the late Soucek, who died in 2013.
