Groups sponsor school bash as way to ‘pay it forward’

The GYG Mental Health Agency and the Empowerment and Uplifting Foundation LLC are presenting a Community Back to School Bash on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the South College Drive Playground.
Back to school supplies will be available while they last. You may bring notepads, pens, folders, etc., to donate.
In addition to food, games, musical entertainment will be provided.
Co-sponsor of the activity is the Dorchester Reunion Group, of which Raymond Barnes is president. He added that free haircuts, stylings for little girls and even manicures.
Barnes said that in addition to helping provide the supplies and fun, the group has a greater purpose.
“We try to pay it forward, and teach children that there are still good people in world,” he said. “We want to keep healing and uplifting people.”
