Franklin man arrested on stabbing charge

A Franklin man is in custody without bond on a charge of malicious wounding another man on Saturday.

Officers responded to a call at 2:51 a.m. of a fight in progress at the 400 block of Bruce Street, Franklin, according to Capt. Tim Whit, spokesman for the city police department.

On arrival, they found that 38-year-old Willie Johnson Jr. had been stabbed in his left arm and the suspect had fled. Johnson was treated on scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel, however, he declined to be taken to the hospital.

Investigation led officers to secure a warrant for Jovan Alex Flythe, 35, of the 400 block of Roosevelt Street. Flythe was later arrested and charged with malicious wounding, he was remanded to Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
