Edna T. Culpepper

PORTSMOUTH — Edna Hortense Thompson Culpepper, 102, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Blackstone, Virginia.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1915, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Cleveland and Eddie Thompson. She is also predeceased by her sister, Nellie Inez Nayer; and three brothers, Cleveland E. “Joe” Thompson Jr., Orvin F. “Huck” Thompson and James E. “Frank” Thompson.

She is survived by her two sons, Britton B Culpepper Jr. (Jo) of Franklin, Virginia and Larry G. Culpepper (Jeanette) of Wilsons, Virginia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Marlene Culpepper.

The family expresses its appreciation to Edna’s caregivers for their caring service.

The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 21, in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Gibson.

Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel, is handling arrangements.
