WASHINGTON, D.C.
After having about 13 major field trips for the summer of 2018, the youth and staff of the program finally reached the end of the road, Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

But to get there the youth had another trip to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens on Monday. On this second visit to the Old Country the group was successful in dodging the threat of rain, which was prevalent in many adjourning areas to have a good day with the weather also not very hot.

Very early on the morning of Wednesday, it was back on the bus at 5 a.m. for the trip to the nation’s capital for a visit to the National Museum of African-American History and Culture. On this educational trip, the group through traveled history from the year 1400 to the present time. The layout of the newest Smithsonian consists of four floors underground, which start the trip on the bottom level in the year 1400.

As a person walks the levels, they are able to view many exhibits, videos, displays and images of information about that time in history. Many reached the ground floor around lunchtime and there they ate lunch at the “Sweet Home Café’. As their journey continued, they traveled four floors upward to reach our present time in history.

Upon leaving D.C., of course the next and a very popular stop before arriving home was the McDonalds in Fredericksburg.
