Pearl D. Darden

FRANKLIN — Pearl Drewry Darden, 89, widow of Harvey Darden Sr., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, with her family by her side.
Born in Sedley, she was a daughter of the late Clinton McKinley Drewry Sr. and Harriet Joyner Drewry. Pearl was also predeceased by two sisters, Mary D. Lankford and Lois D. Edwards; and a brother, C.M. Drewry Jr.
She was a 1946 graduate of Courtland High School, a retired nurse from Southampton Memorial Hospital Skilled Care Unit, and a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
Pearl served as a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, and was very involved in her children’s school and extracurricular activities.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Peggy D. Rush (Reggie) and Pam D. Worrell (Kenneth;) a son, Harvey Darden Jr. (Carole;) sisters, Eunice Blythe and Rose Whitehead; a brother, Elliott Drewry; four grandchildren, Ryan Darden (Leslie,) Holly D. Francis (Vernie,) Lane Padgett (Katie) and Kendall Worrell; eight great-grandchildren William and Elias Darden, Bryn, Berkley, Blair and Briggs Francis, and Monroe and Graham Padgett; and many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. David Roberts and the Rev. Matthew Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Sycamore Baptist Church Library Fund.
