As native citizens of Southampton County, we would highly recommend Cynthia Jarratt Edwards for the position of treasurer in Southampton County. Like most of you, as concerned citizens wanting to make the best decisions for our county — going forward, we would have a hard time finding anyone, anywhere, who is more qualified than Cindy.

Cindy is also a native of Southampton County, and an active member of her community. More importantly, her skill sets for any accounting position most anywhere surpass more levels than required; not only having worked 7 full years with Southampton County, but she also has 27 years of accounting, finance, administration, human resources experience with Union Camp Corporation and International Paper.

Please add to that another 19 years in accounting, finance, administration, office management, human resources and tax experience with Piedmont Pole and Piling LLC/Whitewood Timber Products LLC. Please add to that 20 years of accounting management and tax preparation for Jarratt Builders.

We also do know Cindy personally as well; she is our assistant treasurer at Sedley Baptist Church and also the treasurer for our Local Ministry Committee. Extremely noteworthy as we review qualifications, Cindy has further educated herself, basically while raising her daughters; working both a full-time job and also a partime job.

She is an honor graduate of Paul D. Camp College, A.S. Business;  further, she is an honor graduate from ODU with a BS in Communication/Business Administration.

Therefore, it is without hesitation that we can assure and highly recommend to the citizens of Southampton County that Cindy Jarratt Edwards is perfectly suited and supremely qualified for the position of treasurer of our county.

We all know that as citizens of Southampton County “our money” matters to us; how it is spent, how it is managed, and how fairly we feel treated by those that control it. Cindy Jarratt Edwards will be an asset to the overall organization of Southampton County as we go forward.
