Looking to start a book club, but don’t know where to start? The Blackwater Regional Library has established a new program to promote reading, particularly within these type of groups.

Available at any BRL branch, Book Club Kits each feature a tote bag with 10 copies of a title, plus discussion questions and background information, such as reviews and biographies.

To reserve a kit, though, go online to www.blackwaterlib.org/bookclubkits and then click on Available Titles to see all that’s ready for check-out; you can also look through the catalog for the kits. Pick the title you want and click Place Hold. Only one kit can be checked out at a time, and you need to allow one week from your request to pick up. Reservations for specific times cannot be done as yet.

The kits are checked out to one group member with a library card that’s responsible for all the materials. Each kit is available for six weeks at a time, and they may not be renewed.

When returning the materials, bring them into a BRL branch during open hours since they won’t fit into the book drops.

Fines for overdue or incomplete kits is $1 a day, and fees for missing books will be charged to the person who checked out the kit.

The BRL has set the following policies in the event items are damaged, and collection agency fees apply to the kits as well.

Entire Bag: $125 plus $5 processing fee

Maximum late fine: $10

Replacement title: $10/book

Replacement bag: $13/bag
