Time for auction, dinner

SEBRELL
One recipe to combat the mid-winter blues is to become involved in one’s community, or support another through its various events. For example, the Sebrell Civic Club has scheduled its 64th annual dinner and auction for this Friday, Jan. 25, starting with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.
Undoubtedly, yummy portions of barbecue pork, barbecue chicken, Brunswick stew and homemade desserts will be served. If you get a single plate featuring one dish, that’s $8 per person; a combo platter will be $9, but both naturally include beverages and homemade desserts. Tickets will be available at the door.
Right afterward, there’s the auction itself. There’ll likely be on the block foods such as hams or gift baskets, but also farm-related items such as fertilizer or several hundred dollars worth of cotton seed.
Set a few dollars aside for the raffles for cash and ham.
The profits will be dedicated to such activities as the Courtland and Drewryville athletic associations, the Heritage Museum, scholarships and the maintenance of the clubhouse itself.
