Premiere ‘Night of Stars’ to uplift employees

The congregation and pastor of Celebration Church in Franklin are again going outside the walls of their sanctuary to uplift others. This time, the inaugural “Night of Stars” will highlight the work of Southampton County Public Schools employees. The Academy Awards-style event, complete with red carpet, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 6, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the high school auditorium.

“Anyone who works for the schools — nurses, custodians, paraprofessionals, teachers, administration; the whole gamut,” said the pastor, Anthony Rawlings Sr. The superintendent and school board have been invited as guests.

The honorees at this semi-formal program will be picked by the respective schools, not the hosting church. A dinner, photographer, light entertainment, a DJ and the presentation of trophies are to be featured that evening.

“It will be a fun-filled night,” said Rawlings, who is a 1993 alumnus of Southampton High School. He was quick to say that Franklin City Public Schools will be featured next year.

Sponsorships are available. The red level, which is for teachers, is $500, and that cost could be split by two individuals or businesses or other groups; one example that he gave is Bobby’s Tire and Auto Care. The white tier is $300, and again that cost can be split; and then the blue at $100.

The deadline for each is on Friday, March 29.
