Southampton schools establishes summer meal program

COURTLAND
Under the direction of newly appointed Food Services Supervisor Angela Sproul and assistant Raquel Locklear, Southampton County Public Schools has been approved for the Summer Food Service Program offered through the Virginia Department of Education’s Office of School Nutrition. SFSP is designed to ensure children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.
Through the program, Southampton County Public Schools is offering free breakfast and lunch to any child 18 years of age and under at Riverdale Elementary School, Southampton Middle School and Southampton High School. There are no requirements or paperwork to participate in the meal program.
Adults may also eat for a minimal fee of $1.50 for breakfast and $3 for lunch.
Breakfast will be a choice of three items and lunch will be a choice of three items from at least three different choices.
Daily schedules for the meals are as follows:
Riverdale Elementary School
Breakfast from 9-10 a.m.
Lunch from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Southampton Middle School
Breakfast from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m.
Lunch from 12:05 to 12:35 p.m.
Southampton High School
Breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.
The breakfast and lunch program sites will be open Monday to Thursday through Thursday, July 19. Southampton County Public Schools welcomes everyone to participate in the summer meal program. Camps, daycares and other groups of children are encouraged to participate.
The program is first-come, first served and meals are limited.
If a large group plans to participate, notify the Food Services department of Southampton
County Public Schools at 653-2692.
