For the 35th year, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Queen Corporation will be participating in the annual Children’s Miracle Treat Day, which this year will be on Thursday, July 25. For every Blizzard sold that day, Dairy Queen will contribute $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

“All the money goes to the hospital nearest them [the DQ locations], which in this case is the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters,” said Mitch Sandlin, CEO of the Mid-Atlantic group. “The target amount we know is $9 million. We’re expecting to raise over $100,000 in the 14 locations.”

These are in Franklin, Courtland, Windsor and 11 other sites.

“It’s a top priority and ongoing all year,” Sandlin said about the fundraiser. These projects include the paper balloons on which customers can put their names for a donation, as well as rounding up the cost of their purchases. Employee contributions/deductions are made, and the company matches that at 10 percent.

“We surely appreciate our customers, our employees and their contribution,” he added.

As for the CHKD and its work, Sandlin said, “All you have to do is go there once to see what they do. No child is ever turned away.”
