Chowan students recognized at state leadership conference

MURFREESBORO, N.C.

Students from the Chowan University chapter of the Phi Beta Lambda career student business organization were recognized at the 65th Annual North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference this past spring in Charlotte, North Carolina. In attendance were Jarod Curley of Eure, North Carolina; Brianna Johnson of Boykins, Virginia; Serenity Nichols of Chesapeake, Virginia; Alexis Riddick of Hampton, Virginia; Allandria Yancey Sullivan of Durham, North Carolina; and Patsy W. Taylor, associate professor of Marketing and Phi Beta Lambda faculty advisor.

During the conference, each student had the opportunity to attend leadership workshops and compete in a maximum of two judged events. Only the top eight participants in each category were recognized with a certificate. Of these various competitions, Chowan students placed in seven. In alphabetical order:

Jarod Curley placed fifth in Accounting Principles and seventh in Retail Management.

Brianna Johnson placed first in Accounting for Professionals and fifth in Job Interview.

Alexis Riddick placed seventh in Public Speaking and eighth in Macroeconomics.

Yancey Sullivan placed fourth in Project Management.

The Chowan chapter also placed second in Eastern Region Professional Division – Foundation Chapter Affiliation Membership and third in Eastern Region Chapter Membership.
