The following meetings, events and games have either been cancelled, postponed or rescheduled. If you have an activity that’s been interrupted by Hurricane Dorian, let us know as soon as possible and we’ll post it online. • Southampton Academy will be closed Friday, September 6.
• Franklin High School’s Friday home football game against Amelia will be played instead on Monday, Sept. 9, starting at 6 p.m. This event will be on Armory Field.
• The work session scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, by the Franklin City School Board, has been postponed because of the impending inclement weather.
• The work session Franklin’s City Council had scheduled with representatives of Davenport & Company for Thursday at 7 p.m. has been rescheduled for Monday at 6 p.m. one hour prior to the City Council’s regular meeting.
• Camp Community College has posted on its website that the HESI Entrance Exam that was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 6 at the college’s Franklin campus has been cancelled. For more information, contact Carol Griffin at 569-6731 or cgriffin@pdc.edu.
• City of Franklin trash and recycling collection is suspended for Friday, will resume on Saturday.
• The Rotary Club of Franklin has cancelled its Friday meeting.
• The Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of commerce has rescheduled Brewing up Business at Franklin Hometown Pharmacy for Friday, September 20.
• Chowan University will cancel all classes and campus activities at 3 p.m. Thursday. The university expects to resume its normal operating schedule at 10 a.m. Saturday.
• The Southampton High School varsity football game at Rappahannock has been moved to Monday, September 9 at 6 p.m.
• Camp Community College will close its Franklin, Suffolk and Smithfield campuses today at 4:30 p.m. and will reopen Saturday.
• Franklin City Public Schools have cancelled all after school activities for Thursday and school is cancelled for Friday.
• Isle of Wight County Schools have cancelled all after school activities for Thursday and school is cancelled for Friday.
• Isle of Wight County offices will be closed on Friday.
• Southampton County Public Schools have cancelled all after school activities for Thursday and school is cancelled for Friday.
• The Children’s Center Early Head Start classrooms will all be closed on Friday.
• City of Franklin government will be closed on Friday except for Code 1 employees.
• Franklin Baptist Church’s “Faith on Draft” has been cancelled for Thursday night.
• Isle of Wight Academy is closed on Friday.
• Blackwater Regional Library will be closing all branches at 5 p.m. Thursday and well remain closed on Friday.
• The Southampton County Farm Bureau office will be closed on Friday. The home office can be reached at (804)290-1000.
