Arguably the most important choice we will make Nov. 5 is who will be our next sheriff.

The duties of the sheriff are enormous. Protection of our families and property, security for our schools, security for our courts, detention of convicted and charged inmates, highway law enforcement and many other duties.

We are fortunate that we have a strong slate of candidates to chose from. So how do we choose which to vote for?

My wife and I are voting for Josh Wyche Sr. Josh is certainly qualified for the job. He has the education. He has the experience, [and is] captain in the Sheriff’s Department. Josh has worked closely with our current and former sheriff.

When I have had contact with Josh over the past 30-plus years I have always been greeted with a warm smile and a strong hand shake.

I wish Josh good luck on his campaign and on Nov. 5.
