At Southampton High School, the Student Council Association officers and staff members have been using a green screen room in the library to create promotional videos. Alaina Crowder, library media specialist, has equipped the room with a podcaster, teleprompter, photography lighting kit and several types of microphones.
To date, three promotional videos have been made. SCA President Dale Vick interviewed Coach Travis Parker about his first football season here at SHS. Kalilah Ross discussed details about homecoming with Melissa Edwards and Janell Warren. Coach Sharone Bailey gave information about boys basketball tryouts and interviewed last year’s team captain, Dale Vick.
All videos can be viewed on the school’s YouTube channel. These videos are a way to keep the students, staff, parents and the community informed. The goal is to use the green screen room to create a weekly news broadcast in lieu of lengthy morning announcements on the intercom, and communicate with students by running closed-captioned videos on the televisions in the commons.
The SCA is excited about this new venture in technology for SHS.
