FRANKLIN
A Franklin woman has been apprehended on a charge of robbery and assault on New Year’s Day, according to information provided by city police spokesman Sgt. Scott Halverson.
The department communications center got a call at 8:35 a.m. in reference to a robbery at the Internet Café, located at 1453 Armory Drive in Franklin. When police arrived, they found Tierra Ricks, who was reportedly intoxicated and was subsequently taken into custody.
According to Halverson, the officers’ investigation revealed that Ricks allegedly had grabbed the tip jar from the counter and was stopped by security personnel at the business, at which point she is said to have begun to struggle with the guards, assaulting each prior to officers arriving on scene.
“Neither security guards required medical attention,” Halverson said.
Ricks 31, was charged with not only robbery, but also two counts of assault and battery and public intoxication. She was taken to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where she’s being held without bond.
