The National Weather Service’s Wakefield Station had issued a wind advisory on Friday for Franklin and Southampton County that extended through 4 p.m. that day.

The NWS reported that southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph was expected, with gusts up to 50 mph. Significant tree damage was expected, including uprooted trees and falling limbs and branches. Numerous power outages were also expected. No reports of either have been received as of 4:45 p.m.

As of 11:30 a.m. on Friday, 868 Dominion Energy customers in Southampton County were without power, and another 844 out in Isle of Wight County, according to Dominion’s online outage tracker.

By that afternoon, only 46 customers in Southampton were still without power; 138 in Isle of Wight.

Community Electric Cooperative’s outage map showed that 38 of its customers were still awaiting to have their power restored.

Franklin Power & Light has also received several calls this morning regarding tree limbs falling onto power lines, but so far, no outages in Franklin have been reported.
