FRANKLIN
A Franklin man is in custody on a charge of attempted murder, among other charges, according to Franklin Police spokesman Sgt. Scott Halverson.
At 2:06 p.m. on Monday, the communications center got a call about shots being fired at the intersection of South and Bank streets. The caller, according to Halverson, stated they saw two men arguing and one pulled out a gun. Several shots were fired at the victim, who was not injured.
An investigation identified the suspect as Dashun Pierce, 18, which led to a search warrant being conducted at a residence on Bracy Street. Pierce was subsequently taken into custody and further charged with the use of a firearm in a threatening manner and discharging a firearm in a public place.
Also arrested as a result of the warrant was Dariun Everett, 21, from Franklin, on an unrelated warrant out of Colonial Heights. Everett was released on a secured bond.
Pierce is being held without bond and transported to the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
“The Franklin Police Department would like to thank the Commonwealth Attorney’s office, the Virginia State Police and the Southampton County Sherriff’s Office for assistance provided in this case,” stated Halverson, who added that the investigation is ongoing.
