On the week of July 14-17, Rock Church hosted two soccer camps for children in the community. Super Kids Soccer Camp and Elite 58 Soccer Camp were both a huge success. Super Kids Soccer Camp is a Rock Church’s free alternative to Vacation Bible School. Elite 58 Soccer Camp is an intensive skill-building experience that is facilitated by Franklin Fire Soccer Club. The church offers both camps every summer. They were planning to conduct additional camps including basketball, volleyball, and more but are unable to do them pending COVID-19 restrictions being lifted.

Super Kids Soccer Camp was a free morning event for the children in our community. Sixty children attended with ages ranging from 4-12 years old. The week was filled with fresh air and sunshine, as well as soccer fundamentals, soccer drills, Bible stories and team-building fun. Even while practicing social distancing, the children were able to have fun, smile and laugh as they interacted with one another and learned new skills.

Fifteen children gave their hearts to the Lord as Pastor Danny [Dillon] shared the love of Christ with them. This was the 10th year of Super Kids Soccer Camp at the Rock.

“It is our heart to share the love of Jesus with children of all ages while also teaching them the love of sports” said Dillon.

Elite 58 Soccer Camp ran during the afternoon hours and focused on refining the skills of youth ages 7-17. This camp is facilitated by local soccer coaches, former college athletes, as well as current high school players that all share the love of the sport. The goal is to transfer the love of soccer from this generation to the next. This year, 50 youth from Franklin and the surrounding areas hit the fields and refined their skills.

While keeping the state guidelines in play, children were able to get a little exercise. Please remember the importance of movement in your children. Get them out for a bike ride, a family walk, a few laps around the house, or whatever you can. They need to move and laugh and have fun and that’s exactly what these camps provided.
