Participants received magnetic eyelashes
FRANKLIN
As a way to bring awareness to people about breast cancer, the Pink is Powerful Cancer Support Group co-hosted what it called a glam session with Mikelle Thompson, an affiliate with Tori Belle Cosmetics. “Lashes for a Cause” took place on Oct. 17 at the Empowerment Center on South Street in Franklin.
Audrey Lee, founder and president of PiP, said the event was “A day of celebrating life, liberty and beautiful lashes. All of the recipients received magnetic eyelash bundles that were generously donated, along with other goodies. They were also given a tutorial on how to apply their new magnetic lashes.”
Such an activity is not unusual for the group. Lee that past events have been devoted to hair and makeup.
COVID-19 was initially a challenge for this year, but wearing the masks enabled safe socializing and getting the eyelashes applied.
“In spite of the times we are in, it was a beautiful day of beauty, fellowship, moving testimonies and gorgeous lashes,” said Lee. “The love felt in that room — you can’t even describe. It was an absolute honor to celebrate with these beautiful cancer survivors.”
She added that PiP will host a “Name Your Price” yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8. This will be at 507 Vaughans Lane in the Hunterdale section of Franklin.
The yard sale is being done since the annual “Shades of Pink Gala” could not take place because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fundraiser will include household items, clothing and decorations.
A raffle for a basket of “essentials” — Lysol, masks, gloves, alcohol, etc., will also take place. Donation cost is $5 for three tickets.
