Franklin man arrested on murder charge

A Franklin man is in custody on a charge of first-degree murder, which allegedly took place on Sunday night. Sgt. Scott Halverson, spokesman for the Franklin Police Department, stated that on Nov. 22 at 7:53, the agency’s communication center got a call about shots fired at the Hi-Lo, located in the 1400 block of South Street.
Units arrived on scene and found Rolando Bynum, 47, a resident of Southampton County, suffering from gunshot wounds. Bynum was pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect has been taken into custody for this incident. The suspect has been identified as
Keonte Flythe, 25, was arrested on the aforementioned charge, as well as the alleged use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Flythe was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he is being held without bond.
“The Franklin Police Department would like to thank the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the Southampton County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for their assistance during this investigation,” Halverson stated.
