To create some Christmas cheer, the Boykins Town Council has approved the creation of a new holiday event, The Circle of Trees. This begins on Dec. 6 in the Buck Lassiter Mini Park, and social distancing and masks required during the event.
“The site will be adorned this year with colorful lights and joy as we would like to extend to the community to help us decorate the park,” stated Rene Lassiter in her announcement. “The plan is simple as we would like to place up to 10 live trees in the park and ask the community to bring their tree and decorate.”
Decorating will begin at 1 p.m., and there’ll be a community lighting at 5:15 p.m. Afterward, those present will sing some Christmas carols too. The trees will be lit every day at dusk until the end of the year.
If you are interested in a spot to bring your tree, contact Lassiter at 231-557-1348 or email reneeporterlassiter@gmail.com to reserve your location. The power and a stake to tie down the trees will be provided so you will need to bring your tree, decorations and led lights to adorn your tree.
Lassiter also suggested using zip ties to secure any ornaments placed on the tree.
“You may also place a sign by your tree to describe your family name or company,” she added.
