Ode to a Virus

To the Editor:
This sure has been
A difficult year.
I’m finding it hard
To find much Christmas cheer.
I miss parties, and people,
And good, friendly hugs
But our lives are controlled
By a bunch of bad bugs.
These objects aren’t live
So, we call them a virus
And if we inhale it,
They might not revive us.
So, stop taking chances.
I know some of you do.
How do I know this?
I take chances too.
Hold my breath for two weeks.
No symptoms — a blessing!
Guess I dodged the bullet.
Did I learn my lesson?
My time left is short
My nerves are in knots.
I still have things to do.
Please, bring on them shots!
