Members of Pulaski Baptist Church on Carrsville Highway performed an outreach for community residents by handing out sacks of groceries. All told, 100 bags were distributed on a recent Saturday morning in a drive-through format.

Jeanette R. Leonard, a church member since 2003, said one sack per vehicle was handed out.

“If they had a senior [in the car] who doesn’t drive and was in need, we’d give them one also,” she said. “We will be doing this again. Maybe at the beginning of summer, somewhere in that area. There would be another 100 bags. I have to sit down and plan.”

During the pandemic in 2020, the congregation also worked with other area churches to feed families.

“We participated with the Holland community last year,” said Leonard. “There were 275 sacks, and we were responsible for 140 loaves of bread; we shared with another church, Beaver Dam Baptist.”

The Rev. Kathleen Grant, associate pastor, said such projects are a regular part of the church’s ministry.

“The Rev. Julian Joyner, our pastor, he’s all about community service,” said Grant.

Leonard said Pulaski regularly hands out 25 bags for the holidays at year’s end.

“We’re thinking about raising the number for Christmas,” she said.
