BOYKINS – Sandra Rooks of Boykins, departed this life on April 8, 2021, while resting peacefully in her home. She was born in Greensville County on May 10, 1938 to Willie and Blanche Sumler Ferguson.

Mrs. Rooks graduated from high school in Greensville County. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. For many years she served on the Senior Usher Board and the Missionary Ministry. She was a former member of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Rooks was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Gerald Rooks and 11 siblings. She is survived by her loving husband, the Rev. Matthew Rooks Sr.; one daughter, Jackquelyn Barnes; three sons, Matthew Rooks Jr. (Edna), Malcolm Rooks and John Rooks; two sisters, Iris Robinson, Virginia Cross (Lawrence); 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 15 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 30188 Shiloh Road, Boykins with Minister Angela Vick delivering the message of comfort. Rev. James C. Banks II is the pastor.
