An opportunity for Franklin Police Chief Steve Patterson and his department to discuss community needs directly with the community will take place Wednesday through a 7 p.m. event at the Franklin Sportsman’s Association called “Chilling with the Chief.”

Patterson noted the meeting was thought of by Jesse Evans, of Washington Street.

Evans indicated he is concerned about key challenges facing the community. He said the Cobbtown area is heavily affected by gun violence, as well as other areas, like the Berkley area.

Sharing the inspiration behind the event, Evans said, “It was to give the citizens in the most affected area a chance to voice their opinions and concerns with the department and hear directly from the chief himself, face to face. Although my target are the people of the Cobbtown area, it’s open to all citizens of the Franklin area.”

Patterson said that from his discussions with Evans, the May 26 event is designed to get into the neighborhood and discuss the community needs, the department’s needs, and how the two can come together to make a better tomorrow.

The Franklin Sportsman’s Association is located at 1431 South St. in Franklin.
