FRANKLIN – Mary Adeline Elliott Ashenfelter, 82, widow of Samuel P. Ashenfelter, passed away June 2, 2021 in East Pavilion. Born in Baltimore, Maryland on Jan. 16, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mary H. Snoddy Ashenfelter.
Adeline was a graduate of Towson State College and attended Frostburg State College where she did graduate studies. She taught second and fourth grade in Baltimore County, Maryland and taught second grade in the City of Franklin. Adeline was also a substitute teacher, a member of the Literary Council and a member of High Street United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, John Paul Ashenfelter (Ann) of Harrisonburg and Brian Ross Ashenfelter (Amanda) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Samuel and Matthew Schaffer and Jayden Ashenfelter; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 7 in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Ruth Camp Campbell Memorial Library for Friends of the Library.
