Capron Elementary selects 2020-21 Teacher of the Year

Capron Elementary School announced its 2020-21 Teacher of the Year is fifth-grade teacher Sheila Roach.
A school news release noted Roach always has an optimistic attitude about teaching and her students. She looks on the positive side of every situation, communicating with students about their progress while giving them praise and recognition. She believes everyone can be successful, consistently challenging students to do their best while building their confidence and teaching them to believe in themselves. Her resourceful and inventive methods of teaching her classes allows all students equal opportunities and privileges.
The release added that Roach possesses the essential quality for building teacher-student rapport and creating a trusting, high quality learning environment for students. She possesses a solid command of content and places a priority on keeping parents informed about their children’s progress to create a strong partnership between teachers and families. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it feeds into the student’s desire to learn more.
“Mrs. Roach is an amazing, compassionate teacher with an upbeat mood as well as a sense of vitality and energy,” Officials stated in the release. “Her positive relationship with colleagues is evident as she collaborates with other teachers and school staff, working harmoniously with everyone. Capron Elementary is fortunate to have her and proud to have her represent our school as our Teacher of the Year.”
