Franklin City Public Schools extended congratulations, in a June press release, to one of its former employees, Dr. Kelvin Edwards, for being appointed the next superintendent of Greensville County Public Schools.
Edwards will begin his new position on July 1.
He served Franklin City Public Schools as deputy superintendent for five years beginning in 2014. He also served as the division’s public information officer and interim superintendent before current Superintendent Dr. Tamara Sterling was hired in 2017. Since 2019, he has served as the assistant superintendent of schools in Northampton County, North Carolina.
“I am exceedingly honored, humbled and excited to have been selected to serve the Greensville County community as superintendent,” Edwards said in a press release. “I am also extremely appreciative of the board’s confidence in my leadership, and I am anxious to start serving the children, school board and the community of the Greensville County Public Schools division.”
“I am very excited that Dr. Edwards has the opportunity to impact children in Greensville as he has impacted children in Franklin City,” Sterling said in the release.
