Independence Day Celebration in Sedley

Sedley Events will host an Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 3. According to a press release a whole day of events and attractions is planned.
Events start at 10 a.m. with the GFWC hosting a veteran’s appreciation ceremony at the Sedley Baptist Church, and a Cornhole Tournament. A meet and greet and signing autographs with legendary defensive end for the Cincinnati Bengals Greg Scott will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
From 1- 5 p.m., a kid’s water park-style area will be available for kids under 15 to enjoy. The site will host a slip & slide, two large 6ft inflatable fire hydrant sprinklers, an inflatable house with a water slide, and a small kiddy pool. Two large logging skidders or timber cutting equipment will be on display for kids with adult supervision to look at and touch. Also on display will be drag racing motorcycles, drag racing cars, a funny car/race car, and a pulling tractor.
Line up for a parade begins at 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church on Peachtree Avenue. After the parade is concluded a Car, Truck, & Motorcycle show will start.
Sign-ups for a water balloon throwing contest begin at 5 p.m. The contest is open to any kid under 12 with adult’s supervision.
Solo music performances by local artists will kick off around 4 p.m. with different solo artists, followed by live bands till 10 p.m.
The Soco cloggers will also perform.
Vendors, local businesses, community organizations will be set up around the Baseball field and throughout the area. Sedley Events will sell T-shirts and provide ice cream, freeze pops, and more for free while supplies last.
Sedley recreation association will open the concession stand from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. for food and drinks. Funnel cakes will be available for sale.
At 9 p.m. the band will sing the national anthem and other patriotic shows in preparation for the fireworks, which will begin at dark. Events and attractions may be added as July 3 approaches. For the latest information, follow Sedley Events on Facebook @ Sedley Events.
