The Rock Church School Lions finish the soccer season with a record of 15-0-1, dominating their opponents by winning by an average of five goals per game and proving to be one of the top soccer programs in the region, if not the state.

School officials noted the Lions won with class, sportsmanship and represented God in every fashion. 

The team was led by two seniors, Jack Dillon and Christian Fanjul, who have been playing for the Rock Lions their entire high school career. They finished with an overall record of 77-12-8. 

They truly have had a remarkable soccer experience at RCS, school officials stated, adding that Dillon and Fanjul have both learned to be team players, excellent sports on and off the field and have led the team with great examples. 

School officials said they honor Dillon and Fanjul as athletes and Godly young men. Starting out they were naturally good at what they could do but have fine-tuned their skill and set a high standard for future soccer players at Rock.

“I couldn’t be more happier for my son, Jack, and for my Latino son, Christian Fanjul,” Rock Lions Head Coach Danny Dillon said. “These two are exceptional young men on and off the field. They play with a smile on their face, and that’s when you know they love the game. We are going to miss them but are excited about the future that God has for them. They will both move on to do great things!”

In the last game of the season, the Rock varsity played Brunswick Academy and won 9-1. 

The two seniors led RCS in scoring, as Jack Dillon finished with four goals and Fanjul added three. They also assisted each other. D.J. Dillon also kicked in two goals and four assists. 

School officials noted that the Rock Lions have become a powerhouse and will certainly miss Jack Dillon and Fanjul, adding that all they have done is a reflection of the integrity and purpose Coach Dillon has instilled into them. “I’m living the dream life,” Coach Dillon said. “I get to be a pastor and coach at one of the most amazing churches/schools around, and I get to coach my sons. Hugging Jack after his last game was emotional, but it was mainly tears of joy that I was able to experience this life with him. I could care less about our record, but the excellence and class of which these young men performed this year is a testimony of how good God is. 

“Jack was offered a college soccer scholarship based on his skills but more importantly his attitude. Ladies and gentlemen, the future belongs to our children. If our future has a ton of Christian Fanjuls and Jack Dillons, then we are in great hands.”

The next step for the Rock Lions sports program is the basketball team traveling to Hudson, Florida, to compete in the ACE International Convention in basketball. 

The Rock Lions soccer team looks to move forward with seven returning sophomores and continue its winning ways on and off the field.
