COURTLAND – Kathryn U. O’Bryant passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Southampton County surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born July 26, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to Lee F. and Dorothy Uhlmann. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Gary Uhlmann.
She was a graduate of Allentown High School in Allentown Pennsylvania. Kathryn met Norman and married while attending High Point University. The union brought forth three sons, Keith, Kevin and Kreig. While the boys were in school she supported them in all activities including managing a YMCA summer camp, managing the concessions and helping run Kings Grant Pony League baseball in Virginia Beach, all the while being very active in the PTA.
As an empty nester, she bred and showed many champion Pembroke Welch Corgis while maintaining breed standards by bringing new blood lines from England. She was a member and officer of the Pembroke Corgi Club of the Potomac. At the same time she was an officer and director of Southern Tent Co. Inc. Kathryn served as financial secretary at Courtland United Methodist Church until Jan. 1.
Kathryn is survived by husband, Norman and sons, Keith, Kevin(Stacy), Kreig (Julie); seven grandchildren, Kyle, Patrick, Joseph, Travis, Evan, Kaylee, Kullen and one great-granddaughter, Jenny; brother, Gene Uhlmann and sister, Lynn Uhlmann.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. on July 25 at Courtland United Methodist Church in Courtland. After the service, the family will gather for interment of cremains at Lynnhaven United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach.
