SEDLEY – Robin Kitchen Johnson was born on Aug. 8, 1964 in Franklin and departed to heaven on July 14, 2021 at 56 years old. She was the daughter of Shara Drake Kitchen and William Nick Kitchen III, who both preceded her in death in 2020.
Robin is survived by her husband of 29 years, John N. “Goat Gut” Johnson. She is also survived by two daughters, her pride and joy, Amanda Kate Johnson “Slick” of Martinsville, Virginia and Jenna Kit Johnson “Kitten” of Sedley; a sister, Martha Elizabeth “Beth” Kitchen and her children, Dalton and Drake; and a brother, William Nick Kitchen IV; two aunts, Patricia Kitchen Carr and Betty Turner; and an uncle, Godwyn Theo “Bucky” Kitchen Jr. (Erma). She was blessed to have 22 cousins, 17 still surviving. Robin had two special “daughters,” Ashley Holt Dover (Deven) and their children, Bristol and Lincoln and Victoria Fox Pittman Jones (Andrew).
Robin was the Southampton High School Class of 1982 Valedictorian. In 1986, she received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Virginia Tech. Go Hokies! She was an avid Hokies fan and loved Virginia Tech football. Robin was a 30-year employee of Union Camp/International Paper/West Fraser. Most of her years were spent at the Seaboard, North Carolina Lumber Mill as a controller. In her career, she completed 386 monthly closings in 32 years and two months.
She was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church and GFWC Sedley Woman’s Club where she served as treasurer. She was thankful for her many lifelong friends, her work friends, her GFWC Sedley Woman’s Club friends and the medical professionals who remembered her as 8×8=64. Robin was thankful for having the best family and all the love they shared.
