FRANKLIN – Donald Elijah “Donnie” Joyner, 72, passed away Aug. 28, 2021. Born and raised in Franklin, he was the son of the late Elijah “Buster” Joyner and Thelma Branch Joyner.

Donnie was a graduate of Southampton High School and Virginia Tech where he received a degree in animal science. He was a farmer and a cattleman. Donnie was a former employee of the Virginia State Department of Agriculture. He attended Bethel Friends Meeting and was a member of the Black Angus Association.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Nancy J. Snidow (Vince) of Newport News and numerous cousins.

A service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Rosemont Cemetery, c/o Mildred Branche, 32306 Vicksville Road, Franklin, VA 23851 or the Sedley Fire Department.
