Franklin City Police were on-site at Franklin High School on Thursday, Sept. 23, to assist school administration with an investigation regarding the possibility of a student with a weapon.
A Franklin City Public Schools brief stated that working collaboratively with the City of Franklin, the Franklin City Police Department, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police were conducting a thorough sweep of the high school.
“The school will remain on lockdown until the search and investigation has been completed,” the early afternoon brief stated. “No one has been injured. A call will go out to parents notifying them when the lockdown has been lifted.”
The brief concluded by noting that once the investigation has been completed, a press release will be provided.
