FRANKLIN – Howard Douglas Boone, 93, widower of Jane Pigford Boone, passed away Oct. 5, 2021 in Accordius Health at Courtland. Born in Wallace, North Carolina on Aug. 23, 1928, he was a son of the late George Morris Boone and Ella Hall Boone. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Virginia Carr, James Boone, Geddie Boone, Roscoe Boone, Melvin Boone, Ella Boone, Eloise Carmicheal, Georgia Mae Eakins and Mary Graham Monette and a great-grandchild.
Howard was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and a retired machine operator in the Sheet Finishing Department of Union Camp Corporation. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons, Harry Boone (Sheila), Donald Boone and David Boone; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Boone, Amy West, Donnie Boone Jr., Jeremy Boone, Jennifer Reason, April Boone and David Boone Jr.; a sister, Loyce Floyd of Charleston, South Carolina; and 11 great-grandchildren, Krista West, Jayden Reason, Jacob Reason, Justin Reason, Ethan Smith, Jayvion Harris, Brandon Barner, Tommy Lee White III, Lillie Rose, Ja’Kayla Boone, and Brooklyn Boone.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggest that memorial donations be made to Franklin Baptist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
