Franklin City Public Schools, which includes S.P. Morton Elementary, J.P. King Jr. Middle School and Franklin High School, will be closed because of the forecast for inclement weather on Monday, according to a school district spokesman.

Central Office staff should be available between 9 a.m. and noon, the statement read.

According to the National Weather Service, the Western Tidewater area could see rain and snow before 1 p.m. on Monday, with a chance of snow between 1 and 4 and then a slight chance of rain and snow after 4. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is possible in the area.
