DREWRYVILLE – Mr. Earl S. ‘Skip” Blackburn Jr., 74, of Drewryville, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Blackburn; stepbrother, John C. Price and stepsister, Virginia O’Neal.
Skip is survived by his wife, Jean Bradshaw Blackburn; two daughters, Sarah Blackburn Jones (Rick) and Dorothy Blackburn Worton; three grandsons, Isaac Wise, Jackson Worton and Parker Jones.
Skip was proud to have served his country and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. Later he was the longtime manager of Harrell’s Mini Mart in Drewryville. He was a member of Drewryville Volunteer Fire Department in years past and proficient in Shorin Ryu Karate earning the status of Black Belt. Skip was also a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
A memorial service, led by Pastor David Everette was held 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Road, Jarratt, Virginia. Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 57, Drewryville and Drewryville Fire Department, P.O. Box 125, Drewryville.
