FRANKLIN – Elsie Hedgepeth Womble, 82, widow of Emmett Ronnie Womble Sr., passed away on March 11, 2022 in East Pavilion. Born in Hertford County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Daisy Lee Whitley Hedgepeth.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Carol Adams of Roanoke, Virginia and Juanita Smith of Berryville, Virginia; a son, Emmett Womble Jr. of Franklin; one grandson, Ean Zachary Smith; two sisters, Diane Hoggard of Conway, North Carolina and Sandra Lowder of Pooler, Georgia; three brothers, James “Bill” Hedgepeth of Tyner, North Carolina, Chris Hedgepeth of Winchester, Tennessee and Calvin Hedgepeth of Ahoskie, North Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 in Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to the East Pavilion Discretionary Fund.
