The Franklin High School varsity boys tennis team was victorious in its Friday, March 25, showdown with host King’s Fork High School, winning 6-3 across all singles and doubles matches.
In the No. 1 singles match, Franklin’s Xavier Perry defeated King’s Fork’s Stephen Miller 8-5, as all matches on the day were played using an eight-game pro set. In No. 2 singles, Xavion Perry of the Broncos defeated Evan Croley of the Bulldogs 8-1. Franklin’s Cameron Ridley shut out Javceon Boler 8-0 in the No. 3 singles match, and for the No. 4 seed, Pheno Glover defeated King’s Fork’s Charles McClain 8-4.
The Broncos did not have tennis players to compete in the No. 5 and 6 singles matches, so Ralph Anderson and Shamar Jiggetts won those matches for the Bulldogs, respectively, by default.
Xavier and Xavion Perry joined to form the No. 1 doubles team for Franklin and won 8-1 against Miller and Boler. Ridley and Glover earned an 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles against McClain and Anderson. King’s Fork won the No. 3 doubles match by default.
After hosting Appomattox Regional Governor’s School on Monday, March 28, the Broncos host Sussex Central High School on Wednesday, March 30, and King’s Fork on Friday, April 1, at 4 p.m.
