FRANKLIN – Judy Lamm Avent, 78, left this world to be with her mother, father and siblings on June 20, 2022. Judy passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 28, 1943, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to the late Woodrow and Annie Proctor Lamm. She was predeceased by two sisters and one brother.
Judy retired from Southampton Memorial Hospital’s Human Resources Department after over 30 years of service. Feeling the need to stay busy she started working for Dr. Madhukar Kaloji in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. She was also a member of Franklin Baptist Church and Sunday School Class. So as you can see, she loved staying busy along with her community.
Judy is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband, of 62 years Johnny Avent, whom she loved dearly; her son, the light of her life, John Gregory “Greg” Avent and wife, Suzanne; grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Avent (Terry) the sunshine of her life, Kent Boyce (Summer), Dylan Boyce (Christie) and Ashley Boyce; and great-grandchildren, Caroline Elise Everett, the little princess, Darron Mobley, Courtney Mobley, Shelby Davis and Lilah Boyce.
Visitation will be held on June 24, at 1 p.m. at Franklin Baptist Church. The funeral service, led by Dr. Charles Qualls, will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Southampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the American Lung Association or Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin.
