GOLDSBORO, North Carolina – JoAnn Beale Drake, 71, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Willard Beale and Mary Louise Thomas Keen.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph Willard “Butch” Beale, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Beale.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, “Chip” James C. Drake Jr; son, Christopher James Drake and wife, Tracey of Goldsboro, North Carolina; daughter, Tammy Louise Drake Dawson and husband, Lee of Goldsboro, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ashleigh Brooke Muegge, Andrew James Dawson, Cameron James Drake and Maddie Michelle Drake; and great-grandchildren, Emma Grace Muegge and Hudson Grey Denzin.
A service to celebrate JoAnn’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will be held at noon on Thursday at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service from 6 – 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
