FRANKLIN – John E. Bradshaw, age 62, of Franklin, passed away on July 11, 2022, after a courageous 5 ½ year fight against melanoma.
John was born in Charleston, West Virginia on Dec. 19, 1959. He graduated from Franklin High School and received a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Wesleyan. He taught for over 40 years, most recently at Hunterdale Elementary and Riverdale Elementary. He was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Franklin. He will always be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, his love of teaching and his interest in cars and planes. We thank his visitors for all the funny stories that they shared with and about him.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Lee Bradshaw and Dorothy Lee (Hill) Bradshaw, of Franklin.
He is survived by his partner, Mike Lane of Norfolk; his sister, Debbie Lebo of Richmond, his brother, Mike Bradshaw (Michele) of McLean; Debbie’s daughter, Sarah Call (Ben), their two daughters, Lydia and Louisa; Debbie’s son, Austin, his two daughters, Bailey and Jayden, Mike’s two sons, Tyler (Cait) and Mike Jr. (Kate) and Mike and Kate’s son, George.
The family wants to thank the members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Riverdale Elementary community for the incredible support they both provided during a difficult time. Thanks are also extended to the staff at Obici Hospital and the Obici Hospice team.
The family will receive family and friends at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 400 N. High Street in Franklin on Monday, July 18 from 11 a.m. – noon. A memorial service will follow beginning at noon in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to The American Cancer Society or Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
