Windsor is off to winning start in golf

Windsor High School’s varsity golf team opened its season with a three-stroke victory Aug. 15 and then achieved dominant triumphs Wednesday, Aug. 17, and Monday, Aug. 22.
The Dukes produced a nine-hole team score of 179 on Aug. 15 against Lakeland High School, which finished with a 182 team score.
Leading Windsor individually on the day was sophomore Lucas Patterson, who shot a 44. Each shooting a 45 for the Dukes were junior Aidan Dickinson, senior Carson Pierce and senior Trevor Smith.
Windsor generated a nine-hole 183 team score on Aug. 17 in a four-team field at Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club in Smithfield. The closest competition was 27 strokes back. Greensville County High School shot a 210, Southampton High School shot a 228, Sussex Central High School had a 258, and Franklin High School finished with a 259.
Patterson once again led his team with a score of 44. Smith produced a 45, while Pierce and Dickinson each scored a 47.
On Monday at Dogwood Trace Golf Course in Petersburg, the Dukes were victorious in a six-team field, producing a nine-hole 174 team score. Greensville shot a 192, Southampton had a 207, Appomattox Regional Governor’s School produced a 239, Sussex Central had a 247 and Franklin shot a 262.
Pierce and Dickinson each shot a 41, Patterson recorded a 45 and junior Ben Beale registered a 47.
Windsor (3-0, 2-0 district) will host a Tri-Rivers District match at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Cypress Creek Golfers’ Club.
