Youth shine in 4-H livestock competitions at the fair

As the summer of 2022 draws to a close, the one constant, besides the heat, is the season of the county fair. The Franklin-Southampton County Fair was back this August, and with it came another year of the livestock show.
Through the rain and shine of the fair, 4-H’ers from across the county, high school seniors to cloverbuds, worked all week, showing their livestock. From Aug. 10-13, the children showed rabbits, poultry, pigs, goats, lambs and heifers; though the livestock show was a large part of the work these kids did at the fair, it shows only a small snippet of the hard work and dedication they put in all year long, practicing with, handling and tending to their animals.
Competitive exhibitors consisted of 4-H’ers (ages 9-19), and cloverbud (ages 5-8) exhibitors show non-competitively but still carried out livestock projects.
Congratulations and a job well done to all the exhibitors! Thank you to all the families and community members who came out and supported our exhibitors throughout the week.
